Thanksgiving

We are coming to the end of two years of the on-going (most of the time not-going) process of putting together our home. Initially we went full force with the demolition, including pulling carpet, linoleum, wall paper, vaulting ceilings, pulling cabinets/appliances, it was loads of fun. It’s in putting it back together where our enthusiasm and our pocketbook waver from time to time.

To be fair we have come a long way, since we are able to have an almost finished living room, a nice utility room, and half of the kitchen cabinets up. The kitchen however is still without essential components for example a stove, oven, sink and countertop. The idea of having Thanksgiving at our house should probably have never crossed our minds, but to be honest it just didn’t seem like a big deal. Throughout these two years we have learned to make due with what we have and learned to be creative and innovative with our cooking and our space. It has taught us patience and our tolerance level for frustrating situations has definitely increased. We are also blessed with a very supportive and understanding family that is also willing to work with what we are able to offer. So this Thanksgiving I am thankful for our home, our family, and the opportunity to cook a Thanksgiving dinner.
